In August 2004 Birch Developments were approached about this contract on the Airds estate. The company surveyed the site, discussed costing and specification with the clients and later acquired the contract.
This was the largest renovation and remodeling contract that Birch Developments had undertook to date but as the company always seeked a new challenge they were proud to have been asked to do so.
Airds of Kells Farmhouse was originally built in circa 1726 and had previously been the manor house of the Airds estate. Unfortunately the house had been left empty for 10 years prior to Birch Developments commencing work and became a victim of immense damp problems, wood rot and water penetration which incidentally deteriorated almost to a point of disrepair.
In came the company to transform this property from its ruined appearance into the grand stately home which it formerly was. Birch Developments are very keen to bring properties back to their former states and in order to do this they use products that are of a quality that enhances and creates the look of an aged building ie. Replica cornice and woodwork, ironmongery that is of a look that would be expected in a house of this era, solid wooden floors, hand made paneling surrounding the sash windows and solid oak staircases with cast iron balustrades.
